April 27

The sun is chirping, the birds are shining and the water is wet. Hank says it best when it comes to the things. But today was a great day. The spring air is here to stay, at least for a while. The mud is rampant and the pines are poignantly... well poignantly.

Went to check out some Gore Range today. Hiked a few miles with the dog and Jerome. We got up too late again. No thanks to seemingly endless bottle of wine last night. But made a big breakfast with some custom pancakes and off we went.

Our recon mission for Gore went quite well. We found what we needed, and will be back. We even got in some great turns from another peak with somewhat mellow angles and safish snow. Cant believe I might go paddle tomorrow.

I feel as though I didnt take advantage this winter. But am slowly making up for it this spring.

Cheers

April 26

Just got back from Mexico last night. I must say its hard to put ski boots back on after a week of only shorts, flip flops and margaritas. But I saw some snow up on Bald Mountain on my way back in from Denver. So we headed up at around noon. Got up the road after a while and by the time we got to the top of the ridge we realized we were on top of the wrong ridge. The wind picked up and we werent prepared. So a casual ski down back to the road and it was all good. But the snow is still real nice above 10 thousand feet.

April 17

Must get out earlier. Way earlier. The snow got so warm today and my wax slowed me down so much. Basically a good day for excercise with the dog. Also found a good place to go with the bike. Explore

April 16

Today started out as many do this late in the season. Late breakfast followed by some wallowing around the house trying to decide what to do. Checking the forecast, caic, etc. Finally at around noon my roommate and I began discussing what to do today. After heated debate from both parties we decided to go to vail since Jerome's gear was there. Drive over there, park and thirty minutes late we are at the top. One run later and some of the worst snow Ive ever skied and we were out. Back to Minturn, for a little hike with the dog.

Ah, hiking in the Turn. Once again as it always seems like when we go out to just cruise, we come upon another little hidden gem. There were well space trees, pillow lines and semi-great snow. And at a low elevation to boot. Not much work with great rewards. Almost like the resort.

The snow is still great out there.
